Hepatobiliary Cancer
DSMC is equipped with professional staff and equipment with which to stably provide all types of cancer treatments from surgery to ethanol injection, radiofrequency therapy, hepatic artery embolization, and hepatic artery chemotherapy, supported by departments of radiology and pathology.
Recently, the Department of Nuclear Medicine brought in 3D CRT for effective diagnosis and active treatment even for patients for whom traditional therapy methods did not bring noticeable results.
Also, the weekly meeting among the medical staff of internal medicine, surgery, radiation, and pathology helps reduce mortality rate among the liver cancer patients and provide optimal surgery.
PET-CT [Position emission tomography + computed tomography]
PET-CT is a state-of-art nuclear medicine technique that integrated the benefit of PET, which, by using the characteristic of cancer cells that eats large quantities of glucose, attach the radioactive substance (F-18) that emits postiron to glucose and injects it inside the patient’s body in order to measure the radioactive emission and verify presence of cancer, and CT, which creates a complete 3D imaging of the body, in order to detect and locate the cancer at once.
3D Conformal Therapy Customized proximity radiation equipment
Proximity radiation equipment, unlike external radiation therapy, inserts radioisotope into the lesion while the doctor checks the image on the monitor, thus, minimizing radiation exposure of the normal tissues surrounding the cancer and side effects.
Also, this state-of-art cancer therapy system selectively destroys only the cancer tissues by using an accurate irradiation of high-dose radiation.
