3rd Korean hospital to use 3D MIR for locating and destroying cancer

AIGBT (adaptive image guided brachytherapy) is a 3D MIR device that accurately locates the tumor for cancer treatment. DSMC is the third hospital in Korea and first in the region to adopt this system.

Various specialized programs including multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment

Multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment is a new patient-centered treatment system in which 4-5 specialists of different fields, with the cancer patient and guardian, choose the most ideal treatment method based on collaboration. Also, the hospital provides aromatherapy, laughter therapy, music therapy programs, and patient meetings.

First Asian hospital to perform 1,000 cases of robotic surgery (from February 2016)

Robotic surgery provides up to 15x magnified view of the surgical site and, therefore, allows the surgeon to see details of the nerve or blood vessel, reducing the risk of nerve damage, bleeding, and pain.
Therefore, it is effective for patients with prostate, uterine, rectal, and other types of cancer where the surgical site is small and narrow. In comparison to laparoscopy, the recovery is faster, hospitalization shorter, and sound smaller, improving the quality of life among the patients.

World-class cancer treatment collaboration system

The comprehensive treatment team consisting of cancer specialists provides patient-centered customized treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy), and professional and comprehensive followup management after the surgery as well.
Also, to improve the cancer treatment results, the center is planning to introduce a collaboration treatment system for each cancer (organ) team for common cancer types among Koreans, including thyroid, stomach, lung, liver, colon, breast, and gynecologic cancer, in order to improve the cancer treatment results.
Once the team-based treatment system is introduced, the collaboration system will become more organic and active, improving the speed and accuracy of treatment as a result.
For the treatment collaboration system, the collaboration office and chemotherapy injection office will be expanded as part of the effort to reinforce the outpatient services, which is a growing global trend for cancer treatment.

One-Stop-Service (patient-centered treatment culture)

In the past, from the diagnosis until surgery, patients had to undergo a challenging process for 2 to 3 months. However, DSMC Cancer Center provides one-stop service through the consultation office which provides detailed explanation and assistance for fast delivery (within 2 weeks) from various tests to diagnosis and surgery.

In addition to the medical equipment, the hospital has brought in new state-of-art medical devices such as PET/CT, and radiation therapy machine.
