In 1974, DSMC opened the first plastic surgery department outside Seoul, and performed Korea’s first amnion burn treatment (1977),  flap surgery (1980), zygoma measuring instrument (1985), artificial ear (1996), oral bone extension (1997), outer jaw resection (2001), and standard Image model(2004), as well as publishing books including Plastic Surgery, Latest Plastic Surgery, Kang Jinseong’s Plastic Surgery, and Rhinoplasty. Based on its rich clinical experience in facial (cleft lip and palate), head, hand, and feet deformities, the department is playing a leading role in developing new cosmetic surgery methods.
