Patient Rights & Responsibilities

Patient Rights & Responsibilities: Keimyung University Dongsan Medical Center hereby declares that it recognizes the dignity of human life, shares pain with patients with Lord's love and service, and prioritizes treatment of the patients above all else.

Patient's
Rights

1 Right to receive health care: The patient is entitled to receive proper health care service in order to protect and
promote his or her health regardless of sex, age, religion and status and cannot be denied
of health care by medical personnel without proper reason.

2 Right to know and make decision: The patient has the right to know sufficient information from doctor in charge and nurse related to the condition of illness, method of treatment, subject to medical research, organ transplantation, complications, result of prognoses and estimated medical expenses, to ask specific questions concerning these conditions and to give consent and make final decision. The patient has the right to refuse plan/ned treatment, to discontinue ongoing treatment and to be explained of an alternative treatment.

3 Right to be protected of individual information: The patient has the right to be assured of confidentiality of individual information and medical records regarding her or his private physical or health treatment information except with patient's permission or for those who are allowed by the law to see the records.

4 Right to request consultation and mediation: The patient has the right to request consultation and mediation in case of a medical service dispute by appealing to the Korea Medical Dispute Arbitration.

Patient's
Responsibilities

1 Responsibility to have trust and respect for medical staff: The patient must follow truthfully give her/his exact and detailed medical history to the
medical staff and respect her/his medical staff and cooperate fully with treatment plan,
and take responsibility about the consequences resulting from non compliant behavior to medical treatments. The patient must follow regulations in hospital and respect other patients and employees of the hospital.

2 Responsibility not to receive treatments by dishonest means: The patient must identify her/himself and not use other people's name or receive treatment illegally, and take financial responsibility contracted with hospital.
